Conor McGregor Expects $50 Million Payday At UFC 229

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is challenging UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the gold in the headlining bout of UFC 229.

When McGregor was recently asked how much he expects to make for competing at UFC 229 and the fighters answer was an astonishing one.

“We’re estimating around 3 to 3.5 million [pay-per-view buys], I’d say I’ll close in around the $50 million mark,” McGregor said at the UFC 229 press conference. “So, for a mixed martial artist to make $50 million from a mixed martial arts bout, it’s quite breathtaking. I have to thank my management stable, Paradigm Sports Management. I’ve got to thank Dana White, I’ve got to thank Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank (Fertitta) who schooled me in the game. The new owners…W…what’s the name…WME-IMG? Those guys as well. I haven’t really met them that much but they’ve been good to me so far — Ari (Emmanuel) and those guys. Life is good.”

While the fighter payouts are released publicly by the various state athletic commissions, other thing such as pay-per-view points and other such bonuses aren’t made public.

McGregor wants to be a billionaire one day and he even has an age as to when that goal is expected to be accomplished by.

“I’m 30 now, say by about 35 I’ll be a billionaire,” says McGregor.

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
