Mark Henry Feels That A Women’s Tag Team Division In WWE Is Needed

Mark Henry explains.

On October 28th WWE takes its next step in what they have dubbed the “women’s evolution” when they present their first all-women’s PPV entitled ‘Evolution’. The event will be held at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY and over 50-women are scheduled to be a part of the event. Two matches have already been set for ‘Evolution’ with those being Alexa Bliss versus Trish Stratus and the finals of the Mae Young Classic tournament.

Prior to the announcement of ‘Evolution’ rumors were running rapid about the event not being the only announcement to be made, but also the introduction of WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. That announcement did not happen but during an interview in late July, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon stated that Women’s Tag Titles will not be brought to the forefront just yet but the idea of them is something that the company is keen on exploring. During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry discussed the possibility of WWE introducing women’s tag titles and Henry feels that a tag team division for the women of WWE is needed and he explained why.

“A tag team division, I think is definitely needed, and I think that [with the] all-women’s PPV Evolution coming up, you’re gonna need more programming and I think that-that is the next step.” Henry said. “I think a tag tournament… the Mae Young Classic is another one where there’s no tag teams, there’s just a lot of singles matches. I think it would be cool for people to say, ‘You know what? I have a teammate and I don’t think nobody could beat us’ and see what happens from there.”

Henry was then presented with the question of does there need to be tag titles for both RAW and SmackDown and Henry stated that if the belts were to come to fruition, there should be one set and the titles should be carried from brand-to-brand.

“You know, I don’t think so.” He continued, “I think that the tag titles could carry, and go between both shows. If you can make the tag team titles go between both shows, then that means we’ll get to see the women from the other shows on RAW and SmackDown and it’ll be a win for the fan.”
