Report: Johnny Gargano And Tommaso Ciampa Match Changed Due To WWE Championship Match

The WWE pay-per-view apparently changed NXT Takeover Chicago.

At NXT Takeover: New Orleans, Johnny Gargano beat Tommaso Ciampa in an unsanctioned grudge match in order to win back his contract with NXT. On the same weekend at WrestleMania 34, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were competing for their Smackdown contract but lost. During a media conference call for the NXT New Orleans show, Triple H said it's hard to make sure there isn't similarities between NXT and the main roster because NXT is pre-taped.

In an episode of NXT that has yet aired, Johnny Gargano will be challenging Ciampa to a street fight and according to Wrestling Observer the match was initially planned to be a Last Man Standing match but was changed because of the WWE Championship match at Money in the Bank between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Money in the Bank and NXT Takeover: Chicago are happening the same weekend and that is where the Gargano and Ciampa match is set to take place. The Styles and Nakamura match was officially made a Last Man Standing match on Tuesday.

Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage and a recapping podcast for both Money in the Bank and NXT Takeover.
