Report: Myriad Of Knee Injuries Caused Mirko Cro Cop Off Of Bellator 200
It was revealed earlier this week that Mirko Cro Cop had been pulled from a main event bout against Roy Nelson at Bellator 200 due to knee injuries.
A report has since been filed by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting stating that the legendary heavyweight has suffered a total of five injuries to his left knee.
Those injuries include an ACL tear, a partial MCL tear, a meniscofemoral ligament (MFL) tear, an LCL sprain, and a median arcuate ligament (MAL) tear.
The heavyweight has already undergone surgery to fix the problems and could be back in action by the fall. Cro Cop also told Helwani that he would like another opportunity to fight Nelson, it is unknown if Nelson will wait around for the second chance to fight Cro Cop.
Due to the bout being canned, a middleweight title contest between Rafael Carvalho and Gegard Mousasi will take the main event slot.
Also, a women’s flyweight division encounter between Anastasia Yankova and Kate Jackson has been moved from the preliminary card to the main card.
Bellator 200 takes place on Friday, May 25 from the SSE Arena in London, England with Rafael Carvalho and Gegard Mousasi headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on the Paramount Network.
