Luke Rockhold Injured Again, Won’t Return Until Fall
Rockhold, who hasn’t competed since headlining UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh earlier this year, won’t be back in action until at least October 2018.
The former middleweight champion re-aggravated a previous leg injury and had to undergo surgery once again.
MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani was sent videos of the surgical procedure and posted them on Twitter (Warning: Video’s are graphic.):
Luke Rockhold reinjured his leg in training late last week and is now definitely not fighting Alexander Gustafsson this summer. I’m told he’s hoping to return in October, at the earliest. Here’s a video he provided to me of his shin getting stitched up. (Warning: GRAPHIC) pic.twitter.com/CDQseH7nUN

And if that video wasn’t enough for you, here’s another of the stitching. pic.twitter.com/7DNsftcirW

It is unknown at this time if Gustafsson will still compete at UFC 227 or if he’ll wait for Rockhold to heal up from the injury. The bout between the two was never made official, but UFC President Dana White did mention the possibility of it happening during an appearance on UFC Unfiltered.
