ITV’s ‘World Of Sport’ Tapings To Commence Next Month
'World Of Sport' is back.
In October of 2016 ITV announced that they would be bringing back professional wrestling after a 31-year absence following the cancelation of the TV program in 1985. Towards the later end of 2016 they began taping for a pilot episode that featured a number of talents including: El Ligero, Grado, and Sha Samuels, with WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross calling the action.
In 2017 IMPACT Wrestling and ITV came to an agreement to work with one another to bring back 'World Of Sport' as a ten-episode series with the co-founder of IMPACT Jeff Jarrett at the helm of production. It would later be announced by both parties that the tapings that were set to be held at Preston Guild Hall were going to be put on hold due to contract negotiations.
Today, PWInsider reported that tapings for 'World Of Sport' will take place next month on Thursday May 10th at 6:30 P.M., Friday May 11th at 2 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. and Saturday May 12th at 2 P.M. and 6:30 P.M., at Epic Studios in Norwich.
A number of years ago WWE reached out to ITV in hopes of striking a deal to purchase their pro-wrestling library from the original ITV 'World Of Sport', but the deal never went through. When ITV announced the tapings for their show last year, WWE kick-started the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament featuring their own scouted talent from the U.K. The U.K. Championship tournament has been announced for its second run-around for this summer and it will air exclusively on the WWE Network.
