Report: Bellator MMA Signs Timothy Johnson

Another UFC star is reportedly on his way to Bellator MMA according to MMA Fighting as heavyweight Timothy Johnson has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

Johnson (12-4-0) won four of seven during his three-plus year tenure in the UFC, with those victories coming over Shamil Abdurakhimov, Marcin Tybura, Daniel Omielanczuk and Marcelo Golm. Johnson also did suffer three defeats in his time with the promotion, with those losses coming to Jared Rosholt, former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov and Junior Albini.

The fighter had been ranked in the UFC Heavyweight Division top 15 a few times, but was never able to break through into that top ten spot. Johnson does sit at #14 in the Fightful MMA Rankings, but he will obviously be removed from that spot now that the fighter is in Bellator MMA.

MMA Fighting also reports that Johnson is not set to be a part of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix, either as an alternate or in any other role.

There is no word yet on when Johnson is going to be making his promotional debut, but the former UFC star is expected to appear from Bellator MMA by the end of the year.
