Report: UFC Signs Nathaniel Wood & Molly McCann, Debut Bouts Set
Two new fighters have apparently been added to the UFC roster according to MMA Fighting as the promotion has signed Cage Warriors Bantamweight Champion Nathaniel Wood and Cage Warriors Women’s Flyweight Champion Molly McCann.
Wood is set to make his promotional debut against Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night Utica, while McCann is set to face Gillian Robertson at UFC Fight Night Liverpool.
Wood (13-3-0) enters the promotion riding a five fight winning streak, last defeating Luca Iovine by knockout at Cage Warriors 92. Wood also competed once in Bellator MMA, defeating Chase Morton by third round submission at Bellator 158.
Eduardo (28-11-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last four UFC appearances, with his last bout being a loss to Matthew Lopez at UFC 212. Eduardo has competed just once a year since 2014, while 2011 was the last time he competed more than once in a calendar year.
McCann (7-1-0) enters the UFC while on a six fight winning streak and she hasn’t suffered a defeat in over two years. McCann became the CWFC Women’s Flyweight Champion when she defeated Bryony Tyrell by second round TKO at Cage Warriors 90.
Robertson (4-2-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, defeating Emily Whitmire by first round submission at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale. Robertson also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26, losing to Barb Honchak in the opening round of the reality show.
UFC Fight Night Liverpool takes place on Sunday, May 27 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England with Darren Till and Stephen Thompson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
