Report: Cheick Kongo Faces Javy Ayala At Bellator 199
A heavyweight division attraction has been added to the forthcoming Bellator 199 card according to MMA Junkie as Cheick Kongo is going to be in action against Javy Ayala.
Kongo (27-10-2) enters the contest on the strength of a five fight winning streak, last defeating Augusto Sakai by split decision at Bellator 179. Kongo hasn’t suffered a defeat in over three years, with that last loss coming to King Mo at Bellator 134. Kongo has previously challenged for the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Title, losing to the champion Vitaly Minakov at Bellator 115.
Ayala (10-6-0) has won five of eight during his time in Bellator MMA, but is coming off of a loss to Roy Nelson at Bellator 183. Ayala has seen just one of those eight bouts in Bellator MMA go the distance and that came against the aforementioned Roy Nelson in 2017. Ayala also fought twice in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion, splitting a two bout series against Freddie Aquitania.
Bellator 199 takes place on Saturday, May 12 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Ryan Bader and King Mo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
