Stephanie McMahon And Triple H Share Who They Think The Biggest Star From WWE Is
Stephanie McMahon calls Andre the Giant a pop-culture icon.
In an interview on the ESPN show First Take, Stephen A Smith asked Triple H and Stephanie McMahon who they believe the biggest star to be involved with WWE was. Stephanie McMahon picked a wrestler who she knew when she was a child Andre the Giant.
"For me personally, it's got to be Andre The Giant. I think a lot of people would say The Rock, a lot of people might say John Cena especially recently. But, I would say Andre. He's a pop-culture icon that has transcended media all around the world," said McMahon.
HBO has announced a documentary about Andre The Giant and McMahon said the film will highlight the life of a great icon. Her husband Triple H threw out many names but settled on one name he hears from fans all over the world.
"I think for me, it's kind of mixed because there's different aspects to that. You can talk about the impact of a Hulk Hogan, you can talk about the impact of The Rock now being the biggest box office attraction in Hollywood. You can talk about Stone Cold Steve Austin. But there's one guy for me within our industry that resonates beyond all else. When I go to India or the Middle East, or Europe, or Japan, or Australia, or South America, it doesn't matter. One of the names always brought up to me first and foremost is The Undertaker," said Triple H.
According to Triple H, The Undertaker provides a connection to what fans think about when they think of the product WWE has produced. In the rest of the interview, McMahon and Triple H were asked about their match against Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle and the "genius" of Vince McMahon when he created Wrestlemania.
The interview can be heard on the ESPN YouTube channel or in the video above.
