Owen Roddy Predicts Conor McGregor Would Win Rematch With Max Holloway

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since defeating Eddie Alvarez for the belt at UFC 205.

Max Holloway is the current UFC Featherweight Champion, who lost a decision to McGregor back at UFC Fight Night 26. Owen Roddy is also one of McGregor’s coaches and he believes the Irishman would win a potential rematch against Holloway.

“I think Conor would probably put Max away,” Roddy said on Submission Radio. “I think Max would probably be way more confident in his ability, and if you go in there a little bit overconfident with Conor you’re gonna go to sleep. Whereas, he was a little bit more… he stood back in the first fight — and obviously Conor injured himself, he couldn’t put him away — but yeah, I think it would be a great fight. Max has done, he’s done so well since the Conor fight. He’s been on a tear, and even John Kavanagh said it back in the day, he called that Max would have been the next champion after that fight with Conor. You could see it in Max, and I think everyone sees it. He’s a great fighter, but I think Conor’s on another level compared to him as well.”

Holloway and McGregor have been going to battle on social media, leading to speculation that a rematch may happen between the two.

Brian Ortega is another featherweight contender who could fight McGregor one day and Roddy is confident the lightweight champion would also be victorious in that encounter.

“He (Ortega) has a lot of tells about him, a lot of good skills,” Roddy said. “But him and Conor, I always say the same, no matter who Conor fights, he’s just gotta touch you on the chin and you all go to sleep.”

McGregor has stated that he is training for a return to MMA action, but there is no time frame as to when that could happen.
