Visa Issues Cause LFA 35 To get New Main Event, Title Bout Added To LFA 37
This coming Friday Nights Legacy Fighting Alliance 35 card will have a new main event as WSOF veteran Nick Newell and Sonny Luque will now headline the card, as it was originally the co-main event of the show. These two are going to be competing at a 160 pound catchweight bout, as Newell is returning for the first time since announcing his retirement in October of 2015.
The reason behind the change according to MMA Fighting is due to the visa issues surrounding Silvana Juarez, who was set to face Sabina Mazo for the vacant women’s flyweight title. Juarez is not able to get into the United States in time and has been removed from the title picture altogether.
Mazo will now compete in the co-main event of Legacy Fighting Alliance 37 against Invicta Fighting Championships veteran Shannon Sinn, while the bout will still be for the vacant women’s flyweight title.
Legacy Fighting Alliance 35 takes place on Friday, March 9 from the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas with Nick Newell and Sonny Luque headlining. Legacy Fighting Alliance 37 takes place on Friday, April 20 from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with Sid Bice and Maikel Perez headlining. Fightful is providing coverage of both events, which air live on AXS TV.
