CM Punk is a worker, turned shooter. According to a recent interview, he thinks the pro wrestling world got worked by Conor McGregor.
McGregor lit up pro wrestling headlines recently when he called pro wrestlers ‘pussies,’ said he’d slap the roster, and called John Cena a ‘fat, 40 year old failed Mr. Olympia.’ Several wrestlers, personalities and legends were up in arms, going as far as to challenge the 145-pound UFC Champion. Punk said in an interview with Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97, that he was surprised that so many wrestlers fell for it.
“I think the thing that shocked me the most about what Conor said was the number of people who work there who responded to him who should know better. I don’t feel they got worked, they got worked. Ric Flair, c’mon. Just stop. Knock it off,” said Punk.
Punk also wanted to clarify that he wasn’t trying to knock WWE, he said it happened all across the board in wrestling. He also noted that these days, he gets most of his news updates from Twitter, so finding out about the situation was inevitable.
Punk is scheduled to face Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on September 10 from Cleveland, Ohio. Fightful.com will have exclusive information about his training camp leading up to the fight.
