TJ Dillashaw Rejects Cody Garbrandt Rematch For UFC 222, Wants Mighty Mouse
UFC 222 is in need of a main event after Max Holloway withdrew from his planned featherweight title defense against top contender Frankie Edgar. TJ Dillashaw won't be the man sliding in for that spot.
The UFC made an attempt to put together a TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt bantamweight championship rematch in short order. When ESPN's Brett Okamoto reached Dillashaw, he made a pretty strong case as to why he passed up on the offer.
UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson confirmed this week on his Twitch channel that negotiations for the superfight had begun. UFC already has one champion vs. champion fight on the slate as Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic will defend his title in July at UFC 226 against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
Cody Garbrandt would respond to Dillashaw's rejection on Twitter.
Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of UFC 222, including a live-post show podcast.
