Cain Velasquez & Alexander Gustafsson Comment On UFC 226 Super Fight
UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier will do battle for the heavyweight gold this July at UFC 226.
This is going to be the first champion versus champion bout in the UFC since UFC 205 when then UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor defeated then UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez for the gold.
Cain Velasquez is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and friend/training partner of Cormier, who took to Twitter to comment on the upcoming super fight:
Like always, I'm gonna be in the gym everyday to help my brother @dc_mma become the next heavyweight champ at #UFC226. Once he wins, things could get interesting. #AndNew #WeAreAKA #GonnaGetMyBeltBack

Velasquez is teasing a potential bout with Cormier, but UFC President Dana White did say that DC could relinquish the heavyweight gold if he won it at the event.
Alexander Gustafsson is the #1 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC right now and he isn’t too happy about the upcoming title fight.
The fighter shared his thoughts via Instagram:
Gustafsson lost a close decision to Cormier at UFC 192 in October 2015, but has only competed twice in the last two years.
UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
