Carlos Condit Can’t Gain Momentum, Loses In Return At UFC 219 To Neil Magny

Carlos Condit's return to the cage was underwhelming — for him.

The former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion, ranked #8 in the division going into Saturday's UFC 219 show was soundly defeated by perennial 170-pound gatekeeper #12 Neil Magny. After an extended break from the cage, Condit struggled to defend takedowns and gain any momentum.

Round Three: The round begins with Condit attacking Magny with a variety of kicks, Magny responds by landing some kicks of his own. Condit then nails Magny with a kick to the midsection, Condit then cracks Magny with a multiple punch combination. Condit attempts a few step in knee strikes against Magny, Magny then cracks Condit with a straight right. Condit backs Magny into the cage wall with a multiple strike combination, Condit then pops Magny with a superman punch. Magny goes back to attacking Condit with some leg kicks, Condit comes forward and just swings away at Magny. Magny scores a takedown on Condit and he gets the full guard, Condit scrambles to his feet and swings away at Magny as the round ends.

Official Result: #12 Neil Magny def. #8 Carlos Condit by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Magny adds Condit to an impressive resume that includes wins over Johny Hendricks, Kelvin Gastelum, Hector Lombard, and many more as he moves to 12-5 in the UFC. Condit has only one win in the last four years.
