Jean Pascal Announces His Retirement On Social Media
Former light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal has officially called it a career after more than a decade of fighting as a pro.
Pascal announced on social media that he is officially retiring less than two weeks after a TKO win over Ahmed Elbiali on a live FS1 boxing card in Florida. Pascal's tweet can be seen below.
Born in Haiti and residing in Canada, Pascal took up boxing at the age of 13 and has won multiple amateur championships and even fought in the 2004 Olympics. His final amateur record was 103-18 and turned pro in 2005, winning his first 21 bouts.
Pascal is a former WBC and IBO light heavyweight world champion, picking up victories over Lucian Bute and Chad Dawson. Pascal has also fought against the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Carl Froch, Eleider Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev. Pascal held the WBC light heavyweight title from 2009-11 and joins Andre Ward as former light heavyweight world champions to retire in 2017. Pascal has alternated wins and losses since 2015, challenging for the unified WBA, WBO and IBF light heavyweight titles twice. Pascal's final pro record is 32-5-1 with 1 no contest.
