Five Fighters, Including Takanori Gomi, Cut By UFC

The UFC has slimmed down the roster a little bit as they cut Takanori Gomi, Hacran Dias, Henrique Da Silva, Adriano Martins and Carlos Felipe from the roster.

All five cuts were first reported by Combate.

Gomi (35-14-0-1NC, 4-9-0 UFC) leaves the promotion on a five fight losing streak and he hasn’t won a bout in over three years. All five of Gomi’s latest losses came by way of first round finish and none of those fights went past the three minute mark.

Dias (23-6-1, 3-5-0 UFC) exits the promotion while on a three fight losing streak and all three losses came by way of decision. Dias saw all eight of those appearances in the UFC go the distance and it has been almost six years since he got a finish in a fight.

Da Silva (12-4-0, 2-4-0 UFC) has now left the promotion in the midst of a four fight losing streak and he last competed at UFC Fight Night Japan. Da Silva fought all six of his UFC bout in just over two years time and only one of those six fights went the distance.

Martins (28-9-0, 4-3-0 UFC) is in the midst of a two fight losing streak, but he is the only of the five fighters released with a winning record in UFC competition. Martins has been a little inactive in the last two years, fighting just one time in both 2016 and 2017.

Felipe (8-0-0, 0-0-0 UFC) never got to actually step foot in the Octagon because he failed a drug test prior to his planned promotional debut at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo. Felipe scored six of his professional MMA wins by first round KO/TKO and the other two victories came by way of decision.

It is unknown right now just where any of the fighters will go next, but Gomi recently hinted on social media that he may fight in Japan before the year is up.
