UFN 119’s Jared Gordon Details Missing Weight, Says Hacran Dias Is Hittable
At 13-1 Jared Gordon is a highly touted featherweight prospect.
Ahead of his UFC debut in June, Gordon faced a tough weight cut, and ultimately missed. When speaking to Fightful.com's James Lynch, Gordon recalled all the steps he went through to avoid missing weight, but knew it was a tall task.
"I went to the UFC athlete retreat and got the call to fight Michel again. I had four weeks to prepare, got on the scale and was 32 pounds over the limit and thought 'oh, shit.' I hired a nutritionist that cost me close to $3000, I did everything they told me to do, I tried my hardest, I trained as hard as I've ever trained. I got down to 149 and it wouldn't come off. I stopped sweating," said Gordon "It was pretty devastating."
Gordon remembered that one of his coaches mentioned to him that if he didn't win — and potentially finish — his fight with Quinones, he could end up getting cut from the UFC for his infraction. Gordon would succeed, winning by second round TKO.
Now, Gordon moves on to UFC Sao Paulo, where he faces Hacran Dias. Gordon would tell Lynch that Dias is "very hittable" and hasn't evolved his MMA game much.
In the full interview Jared Gordon (13-1) discusses his upcoming fight against Hacran Dias (23-5-1) at UFC Fight Night 119 on October 28. Jared also talks about how he got into MMA, this matchup being at lightweight instead of featherweight and his training camp for this fight. You can see it above.
