NSAC Suspends Kurt Holobaugh For 9 Months, Win Overturned
Kurt Holobaugh won the main event fight against Matt Bessette at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1, earning himself a UFC contract in the process.
However, the fighter failed to properly disclose his IV usage to the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) and the commission has decided to suspend the fighter 9 months, plus he has been fined a total of $750.
Due to the suspension being retroactive in nature, the fighter is going to be able to compete again on April 11 of next year.
Also, the fighter’s victory over Bessette at DWTNCS Episode 1 has been overturned to a no contest, which leaves his contract status with the UFC up in the air at the moment.
Holobaugh did appear via phone call at the NSAC meeting and he did issue a brief statement on the situation.
“I do take full responsibility,” he said to the commission.
Bob Bennett is the NSAC Executive Director and he stated that the fighter was forthright with the commission about his IV usage, which is what lead to a smaller suspension and fine then some other fighters have received over the years.
The UFC has yet to comment on the situation and have yet to clarify Holobaugh’s contract status.
