Tony Ferguson Says Kevin Lee Has More Heart Than Most Of The Lightweight Division

Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee have the opportunity to become the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion when they clash in the main event of UFC 216.

While Ferguson plans on getting the win and the belt, the contender also admits that his future opponent has a lot of heart.

“Kevin Lee has got more heart than half these dudes in the top five. And that’s what I think about it. And since he’s got more heart, we’re going to go in there and give you guy a f*cking show. He’s a very well rounded fighter. He’s an athlete. … (But) I know how to beat this kid. He’s mentally weak, like half the roster in the UFC,” Ferguson said at a UFC 216 media luncheon.

This isn’t just the fighters first opportunity to hold a title in the UFC, but this is the first time that either have headlined a UFC pay-per-view card.

Ferguson is also coming off some training sessions at Big Bear Mountain and the potential future champion says those sessions were incredible.

“What I did up there in Big Bear mountain was incredible,” he added. “The reason I’m so hard-nosed is because the shit I did.”

UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
