Big Show Says WrestleMania 33 Match With Shaq Is On
WWE is no stranger to making WrestleMania matches several months before the biggest wrestling show takes place, and it looks like the first match of WrestleMania 33 will involve two literal giants.
Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal will apparently face off against the Big Show at WrestleMania 33, at least according to Big Show himself. TMZ Sports recently approached Big Show about the status of the match between the two.
“Do I look like I’m scared?” Show said. “Shaq needs to show up and get it done. Not me, I work there. I don’t need to go to him.”
Rumors of a possible fight started after the two of them competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania 32. The fight between the two started to gain steam after they mouthed off to each other at the 2016 ESPY Awards. Big Show dropped the challenge and the four-time NBA Champion accepted. O’Neal also mentioned he will be fighting the Big Show during an episode of NBA on TNT last season.
“I’ve been a wrestling fan all my life,” O’Neal said. “So when [WWE] called me to do [the Battle Royale], I had to do it. But next time, when I fight Big Show and body slam him over a table, there won’t be anything to talk about. It’s going to happen next year.”
The two first confronted each other back in 2009 during an episode of Monday Night RAW in Cleveland, Ohio, where O’Neal was a ringside enforcer in a match involving the Big Show
So far, WWE has yet to formally announce the match. WrestleMania 33 is going to be held at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on April 2, 2017. No match has been announced for the April show.
