Michelle Waterson Wants To Fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk When She Gets Title Shot
Michelle Waterson is taking on Rose Namajunas in the co-main event of this Saturday Night’s UFC On Fox 24 card.
When she does challenge for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title down the line, the female star would like that title shot to come against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
“100 percent, (I would like to be the one to beat her),” Waterson said at a recent UFC on FOX 24 media luncheon. “Because you’re the first.”
Waterson has held gold before in her professional MMA career, as she is the former Invicta Fighting Championships Atomweight Champion.
The former Invicta FC champion does admit that facing Jedrzejczyk would be a huge challenge for her, because the champion has an aura of invincibility around her.
“She is very intimidating and she hasn’t been beat so there’s like this aura of invincibility around her,” Waterson said. “It’s like if something hasn’t been done before, everyone is like, ‘Oh, you can’t do that. You can’t go to the moon.’ Until it’s done, and then it’s possible.”
UFC On Fox 24 takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
