Sting Has Major Say In Who His Last Opponents Will Be At AEW Revolution
Sting is set to retire after almost 40 years since his debut.
The legendary performer is planned for the Greensboro AEW Revolution show, a city in which he’s performed in many times. Many had questions as to who his opponent will be, and how it would be selected.
Fightful has learned that Sting has had a major say in who his opponent or opponents will be. We’ve heard that he’s been more keen on continuing to do tag team matches as opposed to a singles match, as he’s indicated in the past. The Young Bucks appeared on AEW Dynamite at the end of the January 10 show, hinting that it could be them. As of several weeks ago, that was actively the plan, and one that Sting was on board with.
We’re told that Sting getting the right send off has been a very important thing for Tony Khan. We’re told that pretty well whatever Sting wants en route to his send off, the company has been willing to make happen.
It should go without saying, but in case you’re wondering, we’re told Ric Flair hasn’t been considered for any in-ring performing, but has been actively pushing to do more physical spots.
We’re told there were other pitches made, but the Young Bucks match is largely Sting’s call.
Young Bucks have long been planned for a shift in presentation, as highlighted by those mustaches on Wednesday.
