Jake Roberts On CM Punk’s Return To WWE: As Soon As You Say ‘No,’ It’s Gonna Happen
Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts comments on CM Punk returning to WWE.
Jake Roberts and CM Punk crossed pass upon Roberts returning to WWE in 2014. After Punk had a match with Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley, on an episode of an “Old-School” Monday Night Raw, Roberts made his surprise return to WWE, saving Punk from The Shield along with The New Age Outlaws. Roberts also draped a snake over Ambrose.
CM Punk and Jake Roberts never interacted on screen in AEW, but on the latest episode of his Snake Pit podcast, Roberts says he was not surprised to see CM Punk return to WWE, saying that everything in wrestling comes down to money.
“I’m not shocked. I’m not shocked at all. Never say never in wrestling. As soon as you say, ‘no,’ it’s going to happen. It’s all about money, man. If they think they can make a buck with you, they’re going to bring you in.”
As for his interactions with Punk, Roberts says he’s not been around him much, so he did not feel comfortable judging him.
“I haven’t been around him enough to judge him any either way. I may have said 20 words to him, that’s it. You know, at AEW, he had his own dressing room, so I’d never see him. He just stayed in there.”
Roberts also complimented punk as an old-school style performer.
