Goldberg Becomes WWE Universal Champion

Bill Goldberg is the new WWE Universal Champion.

He defeated Kevin Owens at WWE Fastlane in under thirty seconds to become the third wrestler to hold the championship. This is Goldberg's first WWE title reign in over a decade, but he has been undefeated since coming back including a victory over Brock Lesnar. Goldberg and Lesnar are set to face each other at Wrestlemania 33

Fightful Wrestling had live coverage and discussion and Alex Pawlowski provided play-by-play of the match.

"This should be quick. Owens gets out of the ring before the bell, walks around, delaying the inevitable. Poor guy. He feigns getting back into the ring, gets back out again. The commentary team is selling this as mind games, but I know it's a guy who knows he's about to lose what's most important to him. He's still outside the ring. He fakes getting in the ring again, gets back out. This is riling up Goldberg something fierce and I don't think his heart can take it. Owens gets back in, calls for the bell, then Jericho's music hits. Owens gets distracted, Goldberg hits a Spear, then a Jackhammer," wrote Pawlowski.

Owens held the title for 188 days since winning a four-way elimination match with an assist from Triple H, who was seen talking to Owens right before he attacked Chris Jericho.

Fightful Wrestling will provide live coverage of Goldberg versus Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33 which is on April 2nd.
