Maven Praises Kane As A Locker Room Leader During His Time In WWE

Maven gives his thoughts on Kane as a locker room leader.

Maven is known for being the winner of the first season of WWE Tough Enough. At the time he earned a spot on the WWE roster, WWE was still riding high with a wave of top superstars from the Attitude Era. Maven got to rub elbows with the likes of The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, and The Undertaker.

A staple of the WWE locker room for multiple decades, Kane (Glenn Jacobs) also had some run-ins with the first-ever Tough Enough winner.

Speaking in a recent video on his YouTube channel, Maven touted Kane as the “nicest guy on earth.” Maven also praised “The Big Red Machine” for being a locker room leader and looking out for young guys such as himself and Randy Orton.

“Kane. Nicest guy on Earth. Absolute nicest guy on Earth,” said Maven. We all know about ‘The Big Red Machine’ in the ring. Amazing, and amazing worker. The first things I remember about Kane, during my time, we would all have to be at the arena at one o’clock. Live airings went on at nine. We went live at nine o’clock, so to be there at one, you got a lot of time to kill. I remember one of the first things I saw backstage was Kane playing video games. Now, you see this guy, and you’re like, the last thing on Earth you think is that he’s into video games. Most people don’t know this about Kane, but Kane is a comic book lover. He’s not what you think. Obviously, now he’s the manor of a town in Tennessee. Amazing, everything he did in the ring. But backstage, truly one of the nicest guys. A genuine nice guy, genuinely cared about [you].”

As an example of Jacobs being a locker room leader, Maven recalled a time shortly after Crash Holly’s passing in 2003 when Kane pulled him and Randy Orton aside to make sure that they were on the right path in their careers and that they weren’t forming bad habits.

“I was in WWE for, I would say, probably a little over a year. We had a death, Crash Holly passed away, and Kane made it a point to pull myself and Randy Orton aside, just to make sure we were on the right path, make sure that the next wrestler that was read about and passed away way too early wasn’t one of us. I guarantee, I could see Kane today, haven’t seen him in probably 15 years, and I’d hug him like no time at all passed. He’d get my vote too,” he recalled.

Kurt Angle recently referred to Kane as somebody who may have been too nice, saying that the WWE may have taken advantage of how good of an employee Glenn Jacobs was. Learn more here

Maven arguably had his most famous on-screen moment with Kane’s “brother” Undertaker. In the 2002 Royal Rumble Match, Maven eliminated Undertaker to the shock of everyone watching the event. See what Maven has to say about that moment at this link.
