AEW Dynamite (4/19/23) Results: The Elite Speaks, TNT Title Bout, Jay White’s Debut, And More

AEW Dynamite (4/19)
- Jay White vs. Komander
- The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager)
- TNT Championship: Powerhouse Hobbs (c) vs. Wardlow
- The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) speak
- Chris Jericho confronts Adam Cole
- Dr. Britt Baker DMD & Jamie Hayter vs. The Outcasts (Toni Storm & Ruby Soho)
- FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) speak
– The show starts off with Jack Perry, Sammy Guevara, and Darby Allin bickering about who will be the next AEW World Champion. Maxwell Jacob Friedman comes out to interrupt them. He announces that there will be a mini-tournament between all three men, with the winner facing him at AEW Double or Nothing. Darby Allin gets a bye in the first round. Tonight will be headlined by Jack Perry vs. Sammy Guevara, and the winner will face Darby next week to determine the next challenger for MJF.
Dr. Britt Baker DMD & Jamie Hayter vs. The Outcasts (Toni Storm & Ruby Soho)
The Outcasts attack Jamie and Britt during their entrance. Everyone brawls for the early portion of the match, with Saraya getting involved early on by trying to stop Jamie from diving to the outside. Before the first commercial break, the heels take advantage. Back from break, Baker hits the Panama Sunrise, a Curb Stomp, and The Lockjaw on Ruby Soho for the victory.
Winners: Jamie Hayter and Ruby Soho
– Renee Paquette interviews Wardlow. Wardlow introduces Arn Anderson as his new manager who promises that tonight is going to be a new era.
The Elite call out the Blackpool Combat Club. Bryan Danielson appears on the tron to distract them. The other members of the group jump The Elite from behind. A brawl ensues, and eventually, BCC gets the advantage. Bryan comes out after the group has the advantage. Don Callis comes out to make the save and brings out Konosuke Takeshita, who eventually helps Kenny Omega take out the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club.
TNT Championship: Powerhouse Hobbs (c) vs. Wardlow
Wardlow immediately takes the fight to Will Hobbs. The match spills to the outside immediately and the brawling continues, Hobbs gains the upper hand, but Wardlow eventually comes back. Hobbs is able to once again overpower his challenger, before Wardlow comes back with some suplexes and clotheslines. QT interferes while the referee has his back turned, and Hobbs hits a Spinebuster. Arn Anderson stops the further interference of QT by pointing finger guns at him. Marshall exits the ring and runs into the Lucha Brothers, who are waiting for him on the outside. Wardlow hits the Powerbomb Symphony to regain his championship.
Winner and new champion: Wardlow.
– After the match, Wardlow is confronted by Christian Cage and Luchasaurus
– Backstage, MJF interrupts an interview with Renee Paquette and Sammy Guevara. MJF asks Sammy Guevara to name his price so that he can lie down in the main event of Double or Nothing. Maxwell seems flustered by the number.
Jay White (w/ Juice Robinson) vs. Komander
Komander does insane acrobatic maneuvers. For the majority of this match Shawn Spears is sitting in the crowd holding up numbers every time somebody does high-impact maneuvers. Komander goes for Moonsault and White avoids it. Komander eventually gets back in control and hits his rope walk outside dive. Komander hits a rope-walk Shooting Star Press. He also hits a Phoenix Splash. White eventually gets the victory after a Cutthroat suplex and the Bladerunner.
Winner: Jay White
– After the match, Juice takes Spears from out of the crowd. White and Robinson brawl with Spears, and Ricky Starks makes the save.
– FTR learns backstage that The Varsity Athletes attacked Mark Briscoe. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal are already with him when they go to check on him. Mark Briscoe wants all of them to get revenge for him.
Chris Jericho Confronts Adam Cole
Adam Cole says he respects Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho doesn’t feel the same. A brawl ensues. The JAS come out to further attack Adam Cole. Baker comes out to save her man. The Outcasts come out and attack her. Chris Jericho allows them to attack her with a Kendo stick as Adam Cole watches and gets emotional.
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager)
The JAS attacks The Acclaimed Gunn during their entrance. JAS takes control. Gunn makes the hot tag and clotheslines Parker out of the ring. The match comes down to Parker trying to use a loaded comb. He accidentally takes out Jake Hager with it. Billy Gunn breaks it. The Acclaimed get the win with the mic dropped.
Winners: The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass
Sammy Guevara vs. Jack Perry
The action gets started right away. Guevara does a dive to the outside onto Perry. Guevara hits two Spanish Flies. They continue to brawl at ringside. Eventually, the match goes back in the ring. Perry starts to get a little bit of offense with a Lariat and an apron Powerbomb. Perry hits a diving Canadian Destroyer. Guevara spikes Perry on his head with a back suplex DDT. Perry counters the GTH with a reverse hurricanrana. Perry gets the snare trap but Guevara reaches the ropes. Guevara pushes Perry to the outside off the top rope and he hits his head on a table. Guevara gets the win because Perry tries to get back in the ring but MJF comes out and knocks him out with the dynamite diamond ring.
Winner: Sammy Guevara
