Rhea Ripley: I Didn’t Get To Watch Dominik’s Match At WrestleMania, I Would’ve Tried To Save Him

Rhea Ripley had a very emotional night at WrestleMania 39.

Rhea Ripley captured the WWE SmackDown Women’s Title in a match three years in the making with Charlotte Flair. While she had the crowning moment she’s been waiting for, it was also an emotional night for another member of Judgment Day, Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik wrestled his dad, Rey Mysterio, just 24 hours after the elder Mysterio was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Rhea Ripley was the only member of Judgment Day who was not involved in the father versus son encounter. Ultimately, Bad Bunny helped Rey Mysterio win by preventing his son from cheating and using a chain.

In a new interview with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, Ripley said that she cried early in the day on Saturday night, overcome with emotion for the opportunity she was getting in addition to the emotional night for her on-screen boyfriend.

“I got really emotional here at WrestleMania before I put all my makeup on for it to be switched off. I got really emotional, I cried I want to say like, six-plus times, not only for myself but for Dominik Mysterio as well. Just seeing his growth. He gets to go out there with his dad after Rey got inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s a big night for all of us,” she said.

As for not being ringside for a match that she was arguably the catalyst for, Ripley says that she didn’t get a chance to watch the match because she was preparing for her Championship encounter, and had she been watching, she would have come out to save her “Dom-Dom.” She is, however, promising payback.

“I didn’t get to watch Dom-Dom’s match. Otherwise, I probably would have tried to go out there to save him. I was too busy in my own head trying to get myself prepared for this massive match that I knew I was going to have with Charlotte. So, I’ll get my payback,” she said.

The Judgment Day has one more obstacle to overcome at WrestleMania 39 as Finn Balor, in full Demon mode, will take on Edge inside of Hell in a Cell on the second night of WrestleMania 39.
