Sami Zayn: Before Triple H Was On Creative, I Was Kept Away From Being On Screen With Roman Reigns

Sami Zayn talks about Triple H’s impact on his storyline with The Bloodline.

Sami Zayn and The Bloodline have dominated WWE programming en route to WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, California. However, Sami Zayn, who previously noted that there was an inkling of an idea for him to work with The Bloodline in early 2022, isn’t sure whether or not the storyline would take off in the way that it has without the creative direction of Triple H.

Zayn recently told Ariel Helwani of BT Sport that before Triple H was given creative control of WWE, he was being kept away from Roman Reigns, and then once Hunter took over, the story was given a chance to breathe.

“I can’t say because I genuinely do not know, but I know before Triple H was on creative, I never got on screen with Roman. Then when Triple H did get [on creative] I finally did get on screen with Roman. Whether that’s a coincidence, because like I said, the first time I finally did get on screen with Roman, [which] took the story to the next level, happened to be a lot of stars lining up,” said Sami. “The Usos weren’t there, Heyman wasn’t there, it was in Montreal, all these things.

“Would that have happened if Hunter wasn’t in charge? I don’t know,” Zayn added. “All I know is I can definitely point to the time he wasn’t in charge and say I was kept away from being on screen with Roman. Then once he was in charge, all of a sudden, I’m on screen and it’s allowed to breathe and see where it goes. Because if I do get on screen with Roman and we start doing stuff with The Usos, and all that, and it’s not really working, then okay, you go somewhere else, but because it got it started to work, it got room to breathe. As it breathed it grew. Whether that would have happened without him? I don’t know, but probably not.”

Ultimately, Sami Zayn’s time as a member of The Bloodline ended at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble event when Sami Zayn elected to hit Roman Reigns with a chair rather than hit Kevin Owens.

However, that did not work out well for Sami as the show went off the air with him being laid out in the middle of the ring by Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso.  Jey Uso was conflicted by the ordeal and took to Instagram after the event to express his emotions. Learn more here.
