WSOF Vet Facing UFC Vet At Bellator 182
A featherweight division clash has been added to the upcoming Bellator 182 card as former WSOF Featherweight Champion Georgi Karakhanyan faces UFC veteran Daniel Pineda.
Karakhanyan (26-7-1) has won three of six fights during his second run with Bellator MMA, those three wins came over Bubba Jenkins (twice) and Kirill Medvedovsky. Karakhanyan won the World Series Of Fighting Featherweight Title when he defeated Lance Palmer at the WSOF 7, but he would lose the gold in his first title defense. During his first run with Bellator MMA, the featherweight star defeated Anthony Leone and Bao Quach.
Pineda (22-12-0) has won just one of two in Bellator MMA, defeating Mark Dickman and suffering a defeat to Emmanuel Sanchez. Pineda did win three of seven during his time with the UFC, those three wins came over Pat Schilling, Mackens Semerzier and Justin Lawrence. Pineda is also competing for the first time in just about a year, as his last bout came at Bellator 161 in September of 2016.
Bellator 182 takes place on Friday, August 25 from the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York with Andrey Koreshkov and Chidi Njokuani headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Spike TV.
