Welterweight Fight Added To UFC Fight Night 106

A welterweight division attraction is the latest addition to next month’s UFC Fight Night 106 card as Max Griffin will be in action against Sergio Moraes.

Griffin (13-3-0) has won just one of two fights thus far in UFC competition, defeating Erick Montano and suffering a defeat to Colby Covington. Griffin has held both the Tachi Palace Fights Welterweight Title and the World Fighting Championships Welterweight Title. Griffin was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 16, he lost to Matt Secor in the opening round of the reality show.

Moraes (11-2-1) has won five of his last six fights under the UFC banner, with some notable wins coming over Neil Magny and Omari Akhmedov. Moraes made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil 1, but he lost to Cezar Ferreira in the finals at UFC 147. Moraes’s other professional MMA defeat came to Bellator MMA veteran Brett Cooper, that loss happened at Jungle Fight 16 in October 2009.

UFC Fight Night 106 takes place on Saturday, March 11 from the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil with Kelvin Gastelum and Vitor Belfort headlining, the main card airs live on Fox Sports 1.
