Vitor Belfort Wants To Fight CM Punk

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort will be retiring after his next fight, presumably at UFC 212.

When that retirement fight does happen, the UFC legend has an opponent in mind — a former world champion even! Well….in the WWE.

“It would have to be an interesting fighter, but not a top fighter. I’ve been fighting good guys before: Dan Henderson, [Chris] Weidman, Dan Henderson, ‘Jacare’ [Souza], [Gegard] Mousasi and now Kelvin [Gastelum]. These are all hard fights, so if you can book a smoother fight… What’s the name of that guy from WWE? CM Punk would be a good fight. CM Punk, let’s get it on. That would be a really good fight,” Belfort said to AG Fight.

Punk has only competed once as a professional MMA fighter, losing via first round submission to Mickey Gall at UFC 203.

Belfort also wants to compete at a weight class that may be a little too heavy for Punk.

“I’m going to talk to them (UFC), but I want this fight at 205 pounds. I would love to do this fight in this class,” Belfort said.

When Belfort does enter the Octagon for his final bout, it will be on the heels of a three fight losing streak.
