Vitor Belfort Retirement Fight Set For UFC 212
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort will fight for the final time as a pro at UFC 212, when he faces Nate Marquardt.
Belfort (25-14-0) has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner, with those four defeats coming to Chris Weidman, Ronaldo Souza, Gegard Mousasi and Kelvin Gastelum. Belfort is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Randy Couture to win the gold at UFC 46 in January 2004. Belfort has challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title twice and the UFC Light Heavyweight Title once during his second UFC run, coming up short in all of those attempts.
Marquardt (35-17-2) has won just three of nine fights during his second UFC run, with those wins coming over James Te Huna, Tamdan McCrory and CB Dollaway. Marquardt is a former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion, defeating Tyron Woodley to win the gold in 2012. Marquardt is also winless on pay-per-view events since returning to the UFC, garnering a record of 0-5-0 in those bouts.
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
