Video: Mouthguard Disappears At UFC Vegas 14, Reappears In Narnia

Rhys McKee’s dipped out of the Octagon and found its way to Narnia

McKee had his back to the fence, quite literally, against Alex Morono at UFC Vegas 14 on Saturday. Referee Jazon Herzog called a halt to the action after McKee’s mouthguard fell out of his mouth. The only problem is the mouthguard was nowhere to be seen. McKee’s mouthpiece somehow fell underneath the mat, sending everyone around the cage on a scramble to find it.

One individual was sent to the back to retrive McKee’s backup mouthpiece while others scouted under the cage. Herzog even offered to give McKee the referee’s own personal protective gear. After several minutes of delay, the original mouthguard was retrieved.

Morono was the fighter to make the most of the extended break. He immediately took McKee down, transitioned to mount and rained down bombs for the remainder of the fight. He was awarded all three rounds on the judges’ scorecards.
