Valentina Shevchenko Wants Women’s Flyweight Title Shot At UFC 225

This coming June’s UFC 225 card doesn’t have any title bouts official for it at this time, but if Valentina Shevchenko has her way, a bout will take place between her and UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano.

Shevchenko just made her flyweight division debut at UFC Fight Night Belem, submitting Priscila Cachoeira in the second round of their co-main event encounter.

The flyweight title contender made her feelings known about the potential title bout through Instagram:

Nicco Montano is the current UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion and she hasn’t been heard from much since winning the gold at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale. Montano has claimed in the past the Sijara Eubanks should get the first shot at the strap, but Eubanks has yet to even make her official UFC debut as of this writing.

Prior to dropping to the flyweight division, a potential future title challenger in Shevchenko had previously competed for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 215.

UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
