UPDATE: Dana White Says Donald Cerrone vs.Robbie Lawler At UFC 214

It will now seem that the third time won’t be the charm either for the apparently cursed bout between former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone. Wait, what?

The bout, which was rescheduled for UFC 213 after initially being pulled from UFC 205, was pulled a second time after Cerrone suffered a staph infection.

Rumors persisted that the bout would be rescheduled from UFC 213 to UFC 214, but that Dana White initially said that won’t be the case.

“No, it won’t be on Anaheim,” White said to MMA Junkie.

White it was Cerrone’s injury that canceled the UFC 213 encounter, the former welterweight champion was the cause for the fight being dropped the first time at UFC 205.

White also admits that when it comes to Cowboy, the welterweight star is just too tough for his own good.

“Here’s the deal. ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is a stud. He’s too tough for his own good,” White said. “He absolutely wanted to fight. The kid’s got a pulled groin; he’s got a bruise from his knee to the inside of his groin. And his other knee is blowing up; he’s got staph infection. Could he come out and fight? Probably. Should he come out and fight Robbie Lawler with a pulled groin? No, he shouldn’t. We’re going to get him healthy and remake the fight.”

However, Sunday, Dana White told LA Times' Lance Pugmire that the fight would indeed go down on July 29.

UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
