Undefeated UFC Fighter Juan Adams Discusses His WWE Tryout

Juan Adams picked up arguably the biggest win of his young professional MMA career, defeating Shawn Teed to earn a UFC contract at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 15.

The newly signed UFC star was shocked at some of the things Teed was able to do against him, but everything still went as expected.

“Honestly, I was pretty surprised that he shot in on me. I was really shocked that he could take as many punches as he did, but it went exactly as I expected. Dominated…there was never a question in my head, honestly don’t know why anyone would have thought differently,” says Adams in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Adams is now a member of the UFC Heavyweight Division, but an official UFC debut date and opponent have yet to be announced.

There was some interest from the WWE in Adams and the newly signed UFC star did go to a tryout prior to appearing on DWTNCS.

“It was great and it was actually funny because I was going through a break up during that time, I wasn’t myself and they’re all like ‘come on, we need to see some personality.’ They were wowed by how athletic I was, I was doing everything they asked me to. But I wasn’t really kind of feeling it until the last day and I was like dancing and stuff in there, it was really fun though. They told me that maybe after I’m done fighting I can go back and try out again, at the end of the day I was going to have to choose one or the other and I think I made the right choice,” says Adams.

There were a grand total of 23 fighters signed to a UFC contract through the second season of DWTNCS, with Adams being the twentieth competitor getting a deal that season.
