UFC Veterans Nikita Krylov And Fabio Maldonado Collide In Fight Nights Global 87 Main Event
A battle for the Fight Nights Global Light Heavyweight Title is going to be headlining FNG 87 as champion Fabio Maldonado defends against fellow UFC veteran Nikita Krylov.
Maldonado (24-11-0) is going to be making the first defense of his championship, which was won by third round submission over Kurban Omarov at FNG 73. Maldonado won five of eleven during his time in the UFC, with his last bout in the promotion being a unanimous decision loss to Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 77. Maldonado has spent nearly the last two years competing in the FNG promotion, where he also fought and suffered a controversial decision loss to Fedor Emelianenko.
Krylov (23-5-0) has been undefeated thus far under the FNG banner, last defeating former Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Champion Emmanuel Newton at FNG 77. Krylov won six of nine fights during his tenure in the UFC and opted not to re-sign with the promotion after his contract expired in 2016. Krylov has yet to see any of his eight professional MMA bouts go the distance and only one of those fights made it into the third round.
Fight Nights Global 87 takes place on Saturday, May 5 from the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Fabio Maldonado and Nikita Krylov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on VK.com.
