UFC Veteran Josh Burkman Retires
Josh Burkman competed this past Friday Night at Legacy Fighting Alliance 66, suffering a split decision loss to fellow UFC veteran William Macario.
That bout turned out to be the final one for Burkman, who announced his retirement as a professional MMA fighter in a post-fight interview.
Burkman (28-18-0-1NC) will end his career while in the midst of a six fight losing streak, which includes five losses in the UFC. Burkman’s last win as a professional MMA fighter came at UFC Fight Night 82 in February of 2016, defeating KJ Noons by unanimous decision. Burkman had previously challenged for the World Series Of Fighting Welterweight Champion, losing to Steve Carl via fourth round submission at the WSOF 6 in October of 2013. Burkman had picked up wins over many notable names during his professional MMA career, including victories over Sam Morgan, Drew Fickett, Josh Neer, Forrest Petz, Jamie Yager, Gerald Harris, Aaron Simpson, Jon Fitch and the aforementioned KJ Noons. Burkman was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 2, but lost in the opening round of the reality show to Melvin Guillard.
A now retired Burkman didn’t reveal any post-career plans in the post-fight interview, it is unknown what the former fighter plans on pursuing next now that his professional MMA career has come to an end.
