Play-by-Play
(#5) Thiago Santos vs. (#6) Magomed Ankalaev
Round One – Santos opens with a leg kick, then another, neither fighter is in a rush to open up the offense, Ankalaev comes out of nowhere with a right hook that stuns Santos, who responds with a right of his own, Ankalaev rips one to the body then lands a front-kick to the body, another batch of feeling out, Santos hits a front-kick to the body and the buzzer sounds to end a somewhat lack-luster opening frame.
Round Two – Ankalaev with a front-kick to the body opens. Santos lands a leg kick, Ankalaev lands one of his own and both men slow the fight down once again. Anakalaev latches on for the clinch, Santos is stuck against the fence, powers out and just misses a head kick on the break. Ankalaev rips a hook to the body, then lands a low kick. Santos lands an looping left-hand and Ankalaev drops to the mat for a moment before regaining his balance and he’s able to avoid anymore damage until the horn sounds to end the round.
Round Three – Ankalaev looks to have recovered nicely and partially lands a high kick to start. Santos with a stabbing front-kick to the body land, Ankalaev opens up a bit and lands a 1-2 and then a left hook. Santos comes firing back with a left hook of his own, then a leg kick, Ankalaev with a body kick, goes for another but Santos catches it and uses it to get Ankalaev off-balance and lands a left hook. They both think leg kick simultaneously and it opens up a pretty gnarly cut on the shin of Ankalaev and the buzzer sounds to end round number three.
Round Four – Ankalaev with a right hook to start. Santos pushes the pace and lands a bevy of shots, Ankalaev is pressed against the fence and looks to defend and weave, which he does and circles back to the center of the cage. Ankalaev lands a 1-2, then eats a right hook from Santos, Ankalaev goes up-high with a kick, Santos blocks it, lands a left and goes for a spin-kick but misses. Santos lands a straight left, Ankalaev comes back with a huge right hand then shoots and gets a perfectly-timed takedown. Ankalaev looks to transition and land some ground-and-pound but Santos does a good job of tucking the chin and not allowing much separation and he survives until the horn sounds to send this one to the fifth and final round.
Round Five – Ankalaev with a low kick and Santos lands one of his own to open the final frame. Ankalaev lands a kick to the mid-section, Santos returns fire with a leg kick, Ankalaev lands a 1-2 and clinches up the former title challenger against the fence. Ankalaev is content to lean on Santos for the balance of the final round and he rides it out in the dominant clinch position to end a pretty uneventful fifth round and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.

(#10) Marlon Moraes vs. (#14) Song Yadong
Round One – Moraes blocks a high kick from Yadong to start. Yadong drills Moraes with a right hook, Moraes storms back with a 1-2 then a jab and Yadong unloads a trio of lighting quick punches that puts Moraes out cold! What a performance from Song Yadong!

(#12) Sodiq Yusuff vs. (#15) Alex Caceres
Round One – Caceres opens with a kick, then a left hook and goes for a level change and gets the takedown. Yusuff scrambles back to the feet, Caceres lands a front-kick to the body, Yusuff catches another kick attempt and uses it to land a takedown. Caceres also quickly gets back to the feet, Yusuff with a high kick, Caceres lands a high kick of his own, Yusuff lands a right hook, Yusuff gets another takedown, Caceres threatens with a choke but the horn sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Caceres with a kick to open. A side kick lands for Caceres but Yusuff comes firing back with an overhand right. Yusuff lands a straight right, then a leg kick and then another low kick. Caceres responds with a 1-2 but Yusuff comes storming back with a knee to the chin that sends Caceres to the canvas, Caceres scrambles back to his feet, lands a right, Yusuff catches another kick from Caceres, who lands a low kick at the buzzer and this one is headed to the third and final round.
Round Three – Caceres starts the final frame how he started the previous two and that’s with a low kick. Yusuff counters with some low kicks of his own. Caceres pushes the pace, a back kick lands from Caceres, Yusuff with another low kick, Caceres changes levels but Yusuff stymies the takedown attempt. Yusuff clocks Caceres with a straight right, Caceres fires back with an uppercut, Yusuff trips Caceres with a heavy leg kick, Caceres initiates the clinch, Yusuff with a low kick and looks for a last-second choke but the horn sounds and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.
Result: (#12) Sodiq Yusuff def. (#15) Alex Caceres via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Khalil Rountree Jr. vs. Karl Roberson
Round One – Roberson with a pair of low kicks to start. Rountree fires back with a 1-2, Roberson with a flying knee but Rountree slides out of danger. Roberson with another leg kick, Rountree responds with one of his own. Roberson with a front-kick to the body but Rountree catches it and trips Roberson to the mat, Roberson’s quick to get up, Rountree blasts him with a jab then a straight right. A body kick lands for Rountree, a 1-2 lands for him as well and the buzzer sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Rountree with a 1-2 to start and then wallops Roberson with a looping right hook that sends Roberson to the canvas, Rountree swarms Roberson, lands heavy shots, rips a kick to Roberson’s body and adds a few more punches and referee Herb Dean’s seen enough and this one is over! What a performance from Khalil Rountree Jr.!
