UFC Vegas 30 Highlights: Cyril Gane Outpaces Alexander Volkov
UFC Vegas 30 featured an all-action card top to bottom, that unfortunately was topped by two fairly unexciting heavyweight bouts in the main and co-main event slots. Check out the highlights from those heavyweight fights as well as the rest of the card below.
Cyril Gane def. Alexander Volkov via Unanimous Decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45)
In a boring tactical fight, Cyril Gane came out on top. In a strong performance, Gane dictated the range and the pace of the fight, peppering Volkov with a variety of strikes. It wasn’t a thriller, but Gane maintains his undefeated record and is now 6-0 inside the UFC. He’s knocking on the door of a title shot, in the UFC’s muddled heavyweight division.
It’s about that time.

Tanner Boser def Ovince St. Preux via Technical Knockout (Rd. 2 2:31)
Tanner Boser did whatever he wanted in the first round, as Ovince St. Preux offered almost nothing in return. However the second was a different story, as OSP scored a takedown early on, and held top control until Boser utilized a blatant fence grab to aid his get-up attempt, and went on to score the knockout very shortly after that.

Timur Valiev def. Roani Barcelos via Majority Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28
Timur Valiev survived a very dangerous explosion from Raoni Barcelos at the end of the second round, which he only barely survived, but aside from that his constant aggression and perpetual output was enough to get the edge over Barcelos’s more measured attack.

Andre Fili vs. Daniel Pineda fought to a No Contest (Rd. 2 0:46)
Andre Fili was putting forth the best performance of his career absolutely schooling Daniel Pineda through the first round, and the first minute of the second, until an inadvertent eye-poke put an end to the contest. While Fili won’t get the win, he was absolutely spectacular in what we saw, cutting Pineda up, scoring flashy takedowns, and using a variety of techniques to deal impressive damage to Pineda.

Jai Herbert was no match for Renato Moicano, as Moicano was able to get Herbert to the mat at will, setting a personal record for takedowns in a fight that didn’t last two full rounds. While Herbert ably scrambled during the first, he tired in the second, and Moicano was able to find the finish.
