UFC Marketing Team Messes Up Billboard, Tony Ferguson Responds
Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee are going to be battling for the vacant UFC Interim Lightweight Title in the main event of UFC 216 next month.
However, if the UFC marketing team is to be believed, then Ferguson and Lee are battling for the vacant UFC Interim Featherweight Title instead.
That’s because a billboard in Las Vegas that got the title fight wrong and it didn’t take long for Ferguson to take a shot at the UFC marketing team for the grievous error.
Ferguson posted the following on his Twitter:
Based On This One I've Got Some Weight To Cut ——@ufc — Lightweight Not Featherweight pic.twitter.com/qjf7NL0pYP

For the record, the last UFC Interim Featherweight Champion is the current UFC Featherweight Champion in Max Holloway, who defeated Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 to win the gold.
Holloway would then go onto defeat then featherweight champion Jose Aldo in a title unification fight at UFC 212.
UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
