Play-by-Play
(#2) Brian Ortega vs. (#3) Yair Rodriguez
Round One – Ortega opens with a jab. Yair comes back with a high kick that’s partially blocked but he follows it up with a lightning quick right hook that lands. Ortega cracks Yair with a looping right hand then a left hook. Yair lands a right hook and a straight left then a right hook that stuns Ortega. Yair lands a low kick, Ortega gets a body lock and pushes Yair to the fence. Ortega lands some knees to the thighs of Yair and looks for the back but Yair’s doing a good job of defending, thus far. Yair spins to the center of the octagon but Ortega keeps the body lock intact and pushes Yair right back to the fence. Yair finally breaks the hold and circles back to the middle of the cage, where he stuns Ortega with a right hook then a front kick to the chin which makes Ortega go for a takedown. Yair defends, Ortega shoves Yair to the fence and trips him to the mat. Yair scrambles, Ortega goes for an armbar and Ortega’s shoulder pops out and referee, Keith Peterson waves this one off. Awful ending for what was an absolutely fantastic card and a great start to a highly-anticipated main event.

(#10) Michelle Waterson-Gomez vs. (#11) Amanda Lemos
Round One – Lemos opens up the action with a front kick to the body. Waterson-Gomez lands one of her own then follows it up with a low kick. Lemos lands a low kick of her own then another kick to the body before ducking out of the way of a high kick attempt from Waterson-Gomez. Lemos lands another low kick, Waterson-Gomez fires back with a high kick but misses before landing a side kick to the body. Lemos clinches, Waterson-Gomez shoves Lemos aside, and trips her to the mat. Lemos scrambles and gets back to the feet where she cracks Waterson-Gomez with a 1-2 and horn sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Waterson-Gomez with a stabbing front kick to the body to start. Waterson-Gomez goes for a takedown, Lemos catches her neck in a guillotine choke, Waterson-Gomez completes the takedown but is still in danger, Lemos tightens the hold then randomly lets it go as Waterson-Gomez stands up. The referee didn’t wave it off but Waterson admits that she tapped and Amanda Lemos has another massive win on her record. Props to Waterson for admitting she tapped without the referee seeing it.

(#14) Li Jingliang vs. Muslim Salikhov
Round One – Li with a low kick to start. Salikhov throws a wild spinning wheel kick but Li blocks it and lands a 1-2 before planting another leg kick onto Salikhov’s lead leg. Li lands yet another leg kick and goes for another but Salikhov catches it and drags this one to the mat. Salikhov doesn’t do much and referee, Dan Miragliotta warns him to get going or he’ll stand him up. Salikhov lands a few shots of ground and pound then allows Li back to the feet. Li gets a leg kick checked and Salikhov goes for another wild spinning kick but Li blocks it with his forearm and the horn sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Salikhov immediately drops Li with a right hook then looks for yet another spin kick as Li gets back to his feet, but again, to no avail. Li eats an uppercut from Salikhov but this time, Li lands the takedown. Salikhov scrambles right back to his feet and throws what seems like his 10th spinning kick attempt and just like the previous tries, it misses. Li wallops Salikhov with a right hook and Salikhov is down, Salikhov goes for a desperation takedown, Li stuffs it and rips a right hook to the body then drops Salikhov again, this time with a left hook and then another right and Li lands a few shots of ground and pound and this one is waved off! What a performance by Li Jingliang!

(#8) Matt Schnell vs. (#12) Su Mudaerji
Round One – Mudaerji opens with a 1-2 then a straight left. Mudaerji continues the early barrage and lands a pair of elbows then a knee to the body. Schnell lands a perfectly-timed takedown and drags this one to the mat. Schnell quickly looks for the back and gets it. Mudaerji scrambles and ends up in top position and lights up Schnell with some heavy ground and pound. Schnell looks for the triangle from the bottom, Mudaerji scoops and slams Schnell to loosen the hold but Schnell immediately transitions back to top control and Mudaerji lands some elbows from the back until the buzzer sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Schnell is immediately hit with a kick below the belt and the fight is stopped but quickly resumed. Mudaerji cracks Schnell with a 1-2, then a low kick and an uppercut right after the fight is restarted. Mudaerji slips while going for a high kick but Schnell can’t take control as Mudaerji rocks him with a looping left hand that sends Schnell to the mat, Mudaerji looks for the finish but Schnell scrambles and ends up back on his feet. Mudaerji clobbers Schnell with another hook then he’s right back on the mat after a massive elbow from Mudaerji. Schnell somehow scrambles to his feet yet again and this time, he stuns Mudaerji with a right hook and now he’s down on the mat. Schnell drops elbows from the top and Mudaerji is bleeding all over the place but he somehow transitions to top control. Schnell teases a choke from the bottom and locks it in and Mudaerji is out cold! What a sequence and what a comeback win for Matt Schnell!

(#14) Shane Burgos vs. Charles Jourdain
Round One – Jourdain has a high kick blocked to start. Burgos lands a low kick then a 1-2 and lands a perfectly-timed takedown. Jourdain threatens with a choke from the bottom then scrambles but Burgos ends up securing the back and looks for a choke of his own. Jourdain defends well and scrambles back to his feet. Jourdain lands a knee to the face and trips Burgos to the mat but Burgos gets right back up. Burgos eats a left hook from Jourdain and the latter initiates the clinch. Jourdain with a front kick to the body on the break and they’re clinched up again. Jourdain lands a knee to the body in the clinch which forces the break, Jourdain whiffs on a wild flying knee at the horn and the opening round comes to a close.
Round Two – Burgos with a right hook to start. Burgos clinches and gets to the back of Jourdain but Jourdain shakes Burgos off of him. Burgos gets right back on the back and drags Jourdain to the mat. Burgos remains on the back and now looks for the choke as Jourdain defends. Burgos switches to a neck crank and Jourdain outlasts the pain until the buzzer and this one is headed to the third and final round.
Round Three – Jourdain works the jab to begin the final frame. Jourdain lands a 1-2, then a straight left. Burgos shoots for a takedown but Jourdain stymies the attempt and cracks Burgos with a 1-2 then a walloping right hook. Burgos goes for another takedown but Jourdain shoves him back and lands a knee to the body then peppers Burgos with a number of shots. Jourdain rocks Burgos with a flying knee then a high kick and Burgos is really struggling late. Jourdain cracks Burgos with a high kick at the horn and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.

(#3) Lauren Murphy vs. (#10) Miesha Tate
Round One – Murphy opens the action with an overhand left. Tate dives in for a takedown, Murphy stuffs and clinches where she lands a knee to the face on the break. Tate fires back with a 1-2 then a low kick. Tate lands a pair of straight lefts then another low kick. Murphy goes for a takedown, Tate is down to a knee but gets right back up and Murphy clinches her against the fence. Tate trips Murphy to the but but “Lucky” pops right back to her feet and now Tate initiates the clinch against the cage. Murphy reverses momentum, Tate reverses it right back, Murphy starts landing some knees to the body, Tate goes for a single leg but Murphy slides out of the way and cracks Tate with an elbow to force separation. Murphy whiffs on an overhand right but lands a straight left at the horn and this one is headed to round number two.
Round Two – Tate opens the action with a 1-2. Murphy wallops Tate with a straight left and Tate’s nose is leaking pretty badly. Murphy dives in and gets a takedown, Tate crawls to the cage and gets back to a knee, Murphy starts unloading shots to the side of the head but Tate gets back to her feet. Tate has Murphy clinched against the fence, but Murphy cracks her with an elbow to force the break. Murphy starts popping the jab, Tate clinches, Murphy shoves her aside and they trade straight left hands whilst back in the center of the octagon. Murphy with an uppercut, Tate clinches and lands an elbow but the buzzer sounds and this one is headed to the third and final round.
Round Three – Tate with a low kick to start. Tate dives in for a takedown and gets it but Murphy counters at the very last second and tosses Tate to the side. Murphy lands a knee to the body while both competitors get back to their feet. Tate dives in for another takedown but Murphy stuffs the attempt and lands a knee to the body and Tate backs off. Tate with a front kick to the body, then a jab and a 1-2. Tate with another front kick to the body then opens up with a 1-2, Murphy lands a 1-2 in response and dives for a takedown, Tate stuffs it and shoves Murphy to the fence where she clinches. They break, Murphy works the jab, Tate whiffs on an overhand left, they trade straight lefts, Murphy lands a 1-2, then another jab, Tate clinches but the horn sounds and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.
