UFC Fighter Given Suspended Sentence For X-Mas Brawl
UFC fighter Arnold Allen has been involved in three fights during his UFC tenure, but one of his most memorable fights took place outside of the Octagon.
Allen attended a Christmas party in Suffolk, England and got into a drunken brawl with an unidentified group of people at the party. The situation started, according to a report from Ipswich Star, after Allen came to the defense of his girlfriend as she was arguing with another woman.
Other people would then become involved and then the fighter “went wild” and chaos would erupt as “the MMA fighter came up and punched him (the venue owner) to the left-hand side of his face, causing him to fall to the floor” and then kicked “his legs from under him” and punched him to the face, according to the report. Additionally, “as others came over to intervene, Allen assaulted six women by punching and lashing out as he flailed away, the court heard.”
The UFC fighter was initially given a 12 month prison term, which was reduced to a five month suspended sentence.
“Sentencing the 23-year-old, Recorder Richard Christie QC acknowledged Allen, who was drunk, had originally stepped in to protect his girlfriend after she had been in an altercation with another woman. However, the judge said: ‘After that you went wild.’ Allen was said by one witness to have been ‘windmilling’ his left arm about while having his right arm around his girlfriend. While imposing a five-month prison term, suspended for 12 months, on Allen Recorder Christie told him: ‘You essentially ran amok,’” this is according to a report from Ipswich Star.
Due to his punishment, the UFC competitors has been forced to $4,200 in compensation to his victims, perform 150 hours of community service and serve a one month of home curfew.
Also, the fighter may be facing potential travel restrictions, which could hamper any potential future fights in the UFC.
It was at UFC Fight Night 107 when Allen last competed, as he defeated Makwan Amirkhani by split decision.
