UFC Fight Island 6 Prelims Video Highlights: Early POTN Contender
The UFC Fight Island 6 preliminary card did not match the action of last week’s event, but it did produce a big knockout and a record-setting performance.
Said Nurmagomedov earned a sub-one-minute finish and Jun Yong Park set the all-time UFC ground-and-pound record in three-round fights. Take a look at the highlights below.
Guram Kutateladze def. Mateusz Gamrot by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
It was a close fight that could have gone either way. Media votes leaned both ways but almost everyone agreed it was a coin toss. Kutateladze was given the nod on two scorecards but afterwards told Daniel Cormier he believed his opponent should have won.

Gillian Robertson (no. 15) def. Poliana Botelho by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27)
Botelho fended off Robertson’s takedown attempts in round one using strength. Robertson grounded her opponent in the remaining rounds and proceeded to run away with the fight.

Jun Yong Park def. John Phillips by unanimous decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-25)
Park set a new record for most ground strikes landed in a three-round UFC fight. Park controlled Phillips for much of round one and completely overwhelmed in rounds to and three. The final count was 258 ground stirkes and two 10-8 rounds. Phillips’ most impactful shot was a back elbow while turtled that cut the nearly flawless Park.

Fares Ziam def. Jamie Mullarkey by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Ziam showed off impressive sweeps and scrambles in round one; however, Mullarkey seemed to make the necessary adjustments in stanzas two and three. Al three judes gave the nod to Ziam in a slightly questionable decision.

Maxim Grishin def. Gadzhimurad Antigulov by TKO via strikes (4:58, R2)
Grishin put hands on Antigulov late into round second, pushing him against the cage and firing shots. Only two seconds remained in round two when the referee decided to wave it off, eliciting some controversy of an early stoppage.

Said Nurmagomedov def. Mark Striegl by KO via strikes (0:51, R1)
Nurmagomedov made short, short work of Striegl. He blasted Striegl with punches to the temple as his opponent fished for a single leg. Follow-up ground-and-pound punctuated the sub-one-minute finish.
