UFC Exec Asked About Children Fighting In The UFC

The UFC just ran an event in Moscow and it was headlined by Zabit Magomedsharipov scoring a unanimous decision victory over Calvin Kattar.

At the post-fight press conference, a reporter would ask UFC executive David Shaw if the promotion would ever allow children to fight in the Octagon.

“The UFC used to say they would never have women fighting. Now they have women fighting sometimes on the main cards. So will there ever be kids fighting in the UFC? Cause there are kids’ fights in other challenges,” the reporter asked (via Adam Martin of BJPenn.com).

Jed I. Goodman posted the video of the question and answer in Twitter:

Shaw, to the surprise of no one, said children would never be allowed to fight in the UFC.

“Children fighting in the UFC? No, we won’t have children fighting in the UFC,” Shaw said.

Children competing in MMA fights have happened before in the country of Russia, which is something that the legendary Fedor Emelianenko has spoken out against.
