UFC Continues Massive Layoffs With Canadian Exec

The UFC's continued downsizing of staff resulted in the loss of several executives.

UFC's office in Toronto was the latest to experience the layoffs, as MMA Fighting reports that 80 percent of the department was cut.

UFC Executive Vice President and General Manager for Operations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand Tom Wright was fired Wednesday. Wright was a former Canadian Football League commissioner who was crucial in getting MMA legalized in Canada.

Just yesterday, many executives were relieved of their duties in the UFC Las Vegas office. Monday saw the firing of several in UFC's Asian office. Brazilian, Latin American and European offices also saw cuts. According to MMA Fighting, 60-80 firings are expected this week of the 350+ employees UFC held. More layoffs could happen this year.

The firings take place just months after WME-IMG purchased the UFC for over $4 billion.
