UFC Adding Sensors To Gloves & Shorts
There are going to be a few changes coming to the UFC in the coming months, with the newest being the addition of sensors to the gloves and shorts of each fighter.
The reasoning behind the sensors is going to be to provide real time statistics and other information to the viewers watching the action at home.
“We’re working on a lot of stats,” UFC President Dana White said to the NY Post. “We want to see the best knock out. It’s perfect for social media.”
Although the adding of the sensors is still in the planning phase, they are expected to be implemented within the next six months.
Another big reason behind this is for higher integration of fighting with social media, which is something one of the newest owners of the UFC spoke about.
“We’re going to start creating videos from it that will be shareable with emojis,” UFC owner Ari Emanuel added. “We’re about six months away from that.”
Assuming the six month projection is accurate for when the sensors are going to be added to the gloves and shorts, then MMA fans will start seeing the added benefits of real time stats and the such by early 2018.
