Chimaev continues riding the back and mixes in punches and looking for the choke. Usman stands up, Chimaev stays latched onto the back, and looks for the choke but Usman face plants himself and Chimaev loses the hold. Chimaev somehow doesn’t lose the body lock and still has the back as the former champion is flattened out once again. Chimaev stays busy with some short shots to the side of Usman’s head as Usman gets back to his feet but Chimaev trips him right back down to the mat. Usman gets to his knees, Chimaev hears the 10-second bell and starts firing down shots but Usman survives the round and this one is headed to round number two.

Chimaev latches onto an ankle, Usman stays upright for the moment, but Chimaev gets Usman down to the May with over two-minutes to work. Chimaev isn’t doing too much from the top but as long as he doesn’t get caught in a submission or a wild knockout here, he should secure the decision victory. However, Usman scrambles to his feet with under 30-seconds to go, and he pops the jab. A wild exchange as time winds down, both competitors are landing, but the horn sounds, and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.

Ankalaev knees Walker in the chin but the referee steps in and separates them after the knee was clearly illegal as Walker was deemed down. Walker is given a few moments to recover as the ringside physician comes into the octagon to check on him. Walker has a cut along his left eyebrow and the referee is being told by the doctor that Walker isn’t able to continue. Walker isn’t happy and lightly shoves the referee out of his way as he’s trying to get to Ankalaev. Walker was shown telling both the doctor and referee that he’s OK but the doctor waved the bout off regardless. UFC President, Dana White has now stepped into the octagon to calm Walker down. The crowd is in an absolute frenzy as Walker hypes them up even more and everyone seems to be confused on why this one has been waved off as Walker has said on numerous occasions that he’s perfectly fine but the doctor doesn’t seem to think so. It’s worth noting that this is the same doctor that told a fighter on the prelims that he wasn’t kicked below the belt after he was clearly walloped in the nether regions. Regardless, this one is over.
